Safe and Sound
We teach dog awareness and safety around dogs to both children and adults and to help us demonstrate different situations we take along two of our dogs. Our work promotes the Kennel Club's Safe and Sound scheme with Sashi's code.

With our dogs we are able to demonstrate to children the difference their behaviour can make, and often we are lucky to help children who, initially are scared of dogs, become respectful and aware of the effects of their behaviour on the dogs around them.
We have already been very successful in helping children and adults overcome extreme fear of dogs and they are now able to enjoy their time out at parks and other during other outdoor activities as they understand that they need not allow their fear to overcome the normal activities.

We regularly attend local scout and guide groups, taking the dogs along to help the children understand the message we are putting across and we have found this to be a very effective way of teaching the subject. Many of the children who have been initially wary have ended up hugging the dogs on their way out the door.
We even take along a toy for those who dont want to touch the dogs.

Information from the Kennel Club.
The purpose of the Kennel Club Safe And Sound Award Scheme is to promote the safe interaction between children and dogs. The Scheme can be accessed by clicking on the following link http://www2.the-kennel-club.org.uk/sashi_code/
The Safe and Sound Scheme focuses on the educational issues connected with staying safe around dogs. It can never be taken for granted that any dog will be 100% safe with everyone all of the time. Children have to be taught how to behave in the company of even the best trained dog.
